Take your photo tags with you

A local exporter for Nextcloud photos, XMP metadata and albums, with source available for evaluation.

Moving a photo library should carry more than image files. This local command-line exporter collects originals, keywords, existing tag hierarchy, ratings, captions and album membership into a folder you can inspect.

It produces XMP sidecars, copied album folders, a metadata record and checksums. It runs on your machine and uses read-only requests to Nextcloud. Python 3.11 and ExifTool are required.

Checked on an installed Nextcloud 34.0.5 / Memories 10.1.0 test instance: originals, cloud-only tags, ratings, captions, and owned and shared albums. This used artificial photos on macOS in CI mode; production Linux, other installations and a digiKam GUI import remain unverified. Start with a small folder and keep your originals.

A checked export for your installation

A supported setup and representative export handover is US$150 for one agreed Nextcloud/Memories version. We agree the data scope and acceptance checks before an order.
