METER CHECK
Find the readings
that need a second look.
Check a batch of equipment readings against your type rules and service intervals. See incorrect entries, what is due and what is coming up.
Runs in this tab. No account, upload or connection to Google Sheets. Nothing is saved when you leave.
1. Your readings
Fictional exampleStart with the fictional example. For your own batch, paste rows copied from a spreadsheet, or open a UTF-8 CSV/TSV.
Up to 2 MiB, 2,000 equipment rows and 80 columns. The first row contains column names.
Numbers use a dot decimal, no thousands separators and up to 3 decimal places. IDs remain text. A replacement or reset meter needs a reviewed baseline; decreasing readings are flagged.
Match your columns
Run Check batch to read the headers, then adjust any unmatched columns. Unit may be inferred from your type rule if your table has no unit column.
2. Your type rules
Each equipment type uses hours or km. Enter the service interval and warning window approved for your equipment.
These example settings are fictional. They are not maintenance recommendations.
Next due = reading at last service + interval. “Due soon” means the remaining reading is within your warning window, in the same unit. A window of 0 shows only due/overdue.
This checks your entries against your settings. It does not assess equipment condition, prescribe intervals or certify safe operation.
Your batch at a glance
Rows with entry problems have no calculated schedule. “Not due” only means before your configured warning window; it is not a safety judgement.
Show results report
This is a results report, not a replacement for your source table. Copy it into a NEW report tab or empty range. Keep the original tracker and match records by equipment ID and input row. Previous readings, last-service readings and extra source columns are not included. All checked rows are included. Before pasting, format the equipment-ID column as plain text to keep leading zeros; your spreadsheet may otherwise convert values. Formula-like values are prefixed with an apostrophe; embedded tabs and line breaks become spaces.
| Input row | Equipment | Type / meter | Current | Next due | Remaining | Status / action |

What columns and records does this need?
Equipment ID, equipment type, previous reading, current reading and reading at last service. A unit column is optional; if supplied it must agree with the type rule. Accepted unit names include SMR/hours and ODOMETER/km. A batch must contain one row per equipment ID. Readings support 0 through 1,000,000,000.999. Negative values, exponent notation and comma decimals are rejected rather than guessed. Empty rows inside a table, duplicate/blank headers and inconsistent row widths must be corrected.
Intervals and warnings are in meter units, not calendar dates. One interval and one next service per equipment type are supported. Multiple concurrent service schedules, automatic meter replacement reconciliation and live Google Sheets updates are outside this checker. To switch from the example, replace the readings and type rules, then confirm them.
Purpose: help the person maintaining an equipment tracker spot entry problems and approaching maintenance faster. Original public need. This is independent work; the requester has not commissioned, accepted or paid for it.
